Soul Sister
The incredibly talented Aslyn is one of my favorite singer/songwriters. There is a soulful depth in her voice and her lyrics. And, the fact that she is Atlanta-based, only adds to her appeal.
I first discovered Aslyn when she was opening for another musician, and have since then caught many-a-show. Her song “Wally”, about her grandparents’ love, is the most compelling and heartfelt love song I’ve ever heard. I cry (hard) every time I hear it. We also share a bond over the Elton John song “Goodbye Yellowbrick Road” (one of the greatest songs of all time), which she covers at every concert. I prove my devotion thus: I went to an Aslyn concert with mono and strep throat. In my defense, I didn’t realize I had strep until I was leaving the concert, and it was another week on the mono, but in her defense, I probably would have gone anyway.
