Come Sail Away
I’m thrilled that the nautical stripes of the sailor trend are sticking around for another season! There’s nothing quite as chic as a crisp black and white stripe. And, if you take one of these fabulous pieces and combine it with a bright burst of color, whether it’s with a bright yellow ballet flat or a pair of green cropped pants, you’ll be perfectly on par with spring’s trends!

The Sweetest Thing
I’m not a cake person. I made myself sick eating too much of my birthday cake when I was young, and I’ve never wanted the stuff since (I can’t stomach mint chocolate chip ice cream either–I think it might have been involved in this same birthday’s upchucking incident). So, for most of my life, I have opted for a different dessert on my birthday, and have never had the common ’should I or shouldn’t I’ debate about a second piece of cake at a wedding. I’ll go crazy on a brownie, or a cookie or chocolates of any kind–I even regularly eat all the icing off a piece of cake–but you simply can’t tempt me with cake.
Baby Love
I have been beyond negligent when it comes to my poor blog. Explanation: I got pregnant and had a baby. She is a smurf. Now that I have a baby, I wonder how I was so busy while I was pregnant, but I’ll address that later. So here, organized into one convenient post, are some suggestions regarding pregnancy and babydom.

A Heart Full of Love
In the world of super fandom, you have your Dead Heads, your Parrot Heads and your Twihards. I fall into a different realm: I am a Lushie. That, my friends, is a loyal devotee of Lush Cosmetics. If you haven’t heard of it, my heart mourns your loss. If you don’t like it, you’re dead, because anyone with senses will adore this stuff–natural, vegetarian products, handmade with a sense of humor.

You Can’t Always Get What You Want
But sometimes, you can. And that’s fun. Allow me to tell you a tale.
It all started when a local boutique Tweeted me with a link to their blog (http://fabrikfiles.blogspot.com/). On said blog, was a dress I simply adored, and the hubs said he would make it my birthday gift. Three days later, I went to the boutique, only to find they were completely sold out of the dress, as were the shop’s other two locations. Although the sales associate took my information and promised to call me if more came in, I simply couldn’t wait.
So Fresh and So Clean, Clean
People who know me well know that my hair isn’t the cleanest thing in the world. The beauty of this fact is that people who don’t know me have no idea.

SAG Awards Fashion
I was thoroughly disappointed by the fashions of this year’s Golden Globes. When my style-icon Heidi Klum looks bad, you know it’s a bad night. In fact, my favorite part of the evening was all the cute boyfriends/husbands who held umbrellas for their ladies:

Which is why this weekend’s Screen Actors Guild Awards was such a breath of fresh air. So much better overall, ladies! Here are a few highlights:

Show Me Love
With Valentine’s Day 2010 quickly approaching, people keep asking me where they should take their S.O. for the big day. This is the easiest question in the world for me to answer, because when I think romance, I think of one restaurant in Atlanta: Dante’s Down the Hatch.

Soul Sister

The incredibly talented Aslyn is one of my favorite singer/songwriters. There is a soulful depth in her voice and her lyrics. And, the fact that she is Atlanta-based, only adds to her appeal.

Prime Time Super Star

I have suffered from tremendously oily skin for my entire adult life. The only repose I can find in the fact that it is a daily struggle to keep my face from looking like I just ran a 5K in the middle of the desert is that heavy oil production when you are young is supposed to yield fewer wrinkles when you are older. So, I cling to the hope that I will not look a day over 26 when I am 42. Check back with me in 16 years. If I’m noticeably more bitter (and of course, wrinkled), you’ll know my silver lining ended up being the cheap stuff that turns black rather than sterling. But I digress.
